Currently, Medicare covers acupuncture services for chronic lower back pain, but cannot allow acupuncturists to provide these services until Congress grants the profession Medicare provider status. H.R. 3133 would grant acupuncturists this status, which would increase access to the profession—and enable more acupuncturists to treat Medicare beneficiaries. To learn more, click here

Additionally, not all insurance plans come with acupuncture benefits. Additionally, if you do have coverage, you may have a deductible to meet before a copay or coinsurance takes effect.
